What do I need to bring for our fishing charter?

Please feel free to bring anything you would like to eat or drink. We furnish bottled water. We have plenty of cooling space while on your trip, but you might want a cooler to carry your catch home. Do not forget a hat, sunscreen, and your camera.

We ask that you refrain from bringing spray type suncreens. They make the deck extremely slick and we don’t want anyone to fall. Also they are damaging to most boat finishes.

Where do we meet the boat?

The Sea Candy is docked at The Jetty’s Restaurant,  1075 N A1A Jupiter, Florida. Feel free to park in the Jetty’s or U Tiki Parking lots. Follow the sidewalk between the Jetty’s and U Tiki to the dock. Most times your charter will be waiting on the end of the dock so that getting on and off the boat is easier.

What time do I need to arrive?

Most charters depart at 7:30 in the mornings and for afternoon trips usually at 12 noon. It’s best to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your trip so that we may depart on time. If you are late we don’t want to cut your trip short in order to make our afternoon departure on schedule.

The US Coast Guard sets the licensing requirements. Most charter sport fishing boats no matter what size of the vessel is limited to 6 guests, whether you are fishing or not. The weatherman says “small craft warnings” what do we do?

How much do we tip and handle gratuity for the Captain & Mate?

This should be our number one question! Our crew works especially hard for you and their day starts very early and ends long after your trip has concluded. We suggest, as with all service industries that 20-30% of the total cost of your charter including your deposit, is the normal recommended rate. The most important thing is that you are happy with the service and if you are not, we want to hear about it. The crew will split the trip accordingly, but remember is most cases the mate relies on his tips for the days pay.

Are the listed prices per person or for the boat?

Our pricing is based on the total cost of your charter, not per person. If you are ever concern about charges please ask when booking your trip.

How do we pay for our trip?

Once a date has been chosen for your charter, a deposit is required to secure your date. You may choose to pay with a credit card or send us a check. If paying by credit card, please bring your card with you. The credit card used for your deposit or previous transactions is no longer available nor accessible..

Do you take credit cards?

All of them including Apple Pay. Additional credit card fees may occur with Bahama Bookings.

What should I wear? Do I need shoes?

We recommend clothes that are comfortable, cool and protect you from the sun. Although, you can set in the cabin and we have plenty of shaded areas, you have a hard time avoiding the Florida sun. We always suggest shoes, we do not want you to accidentally step on something and some of the fish we catch do have razor sharp teeth. Your shoes should consist of soft soles, or sandals..

Sea Sickness, What do I do?

We advise our customers who are unsure about seasickness to contact your physician. If you purchase an across the counter product we suggest you take a seasick pill the night before the charter and another, one hour before the charter. Be sure to read the labels. Certain pills have warnings and not all people should take them, so always check with your Doctor first! These pills do usually work, however, in case of seasickness, the customer always has the option to end the trip early Please advise your Captain and mate immediately!

We release all billfish unless it qualifies for a world record or tournament winning fish. We make every effort to tag your billfish sponsored by The Billfish Foundation. All edible fish will be filleted, and bagged by your crew.

If I catch a trophy, can we get a picture and a mount?

All catches and releases are subject to State and Federal Regulations along with IGFA rules. Your crew will attempt to provide the best photograph opportunities for your catch. We are proud to be agents for Gray Taxidermy. Your mate and Captain can provide you with all the paperwork and costs..

Can we join another group?

We will make every effort to arrange a split charter if you absolutely request it. However, all splits must be paid for in full, in advance. Please note that not all anglers are compatible nor agreeable to who gets the first fish. We have met our share of rod hogs!
